ADAPTIVE REUSE

Published by Emperor Karl

Adaptive reuse is the process where old buildings are being adapted for new uses while retaining their historic features. For example, an old house may become a restaurant or an old factory may become an apartment building. Adaptive reuse is a key to preserving a structure while propping it up for new use.

This page contains photos of old structures in Cebu that have been adaptively reused. This is an experimental page, no further information about the structures presented below is provided as of the moment. We encourage our readers to contribute more photos and share anything they know.

Below: An old house in the northern city of Bogo, now a Pizza restaurant (Pizza Pub).

Below: An old house in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, now a Mexican-themed restaurant (Mooon Cafe).

Below: A pre-World War II building near City Hall, now occupied by a commercial establishment (MC Square).

Below: The former parish house of the Cebu Cathedral, now an ecclesiastical museum (The Cathedral Museum of Cebu).

Adaptive reuse is still a renovation of the old buildings with modern ones, at least.
