Cebu City after World War II

Published by Emperor Karl at 10:49 pm under Vintage Photographs

Here are some photos that I found in Flickr more than a year ago of Cebu City right after World War II. I tried to search for the account of the one who uploaded these photos so that I can credit him but unfortunately I could no longer locate him. Seems also that he already deleted the photos or set them to private. Like most World War II photos of Cebu, I suspect that these photos came from the archives of a particular university in the USA.

Below: An aerial view of the port area with the gutted warehouses, the Aduana, and Plaza Independencia.

Below: Piers one to three.

Below: Aerial view of downtown, completely devastated except for a handful of buildings. I tried to put some labels for reference.

Below: The gutted Cebu Provincial Capitol. Note that the present day Osmeña Boulevard was still an unpaved road.
